Gasthaus St. Oswald
The idyllic village of St. Oswald is located at about 750 m above sea level, below Siusi and Castelrotto, with a view of the Isarco Valley. A small road leads from Siusi allo Sciliar to the village. Today, the small village with the surrounding farms has about 140 inhabitants, the best known of whom is Norbert Rier, the head of the Kastelruther Spatzen, who runs a very successful Haflinger horse breeding farm here in Fuschghof. Just a stone's throw from the village are the Aichach ruins and, next to them, the Pflegerhof organic herb farm with its garden and greenhouse with over 200 species of herbs. Fresh produce is produced here every day and sold in the farm shop. Guided tours, seminars and excursions are part of the Pflegerhof's programme. Thanks to its favourable altitude, wine is also cultivated in St. Oswald and in autumn you are invited to taste St. Oswald Buschenschänke at the traditional Törggelen with chestnuts and new wine.
